Intelligent Cameras - Cameras That Can 'Watch' Aswell As See
Many CCTV cameras have the ability to record clear details of an incident. All too often, the camera is facing the wrong direction or giving a too general view.
The newest intelligent cameras are always recording activity of interest. They are programmed to automatically zoom into and follow user defined behaviour. Typically, behaviour rules are defined relating to people, vehicles, and bags.
How the system works
The unit has an array of fixed cameras which constantly view an area up to 360 degrees. The intelligent 'Virtual operator' software analyses each fixed camera view and instructs the 'Pan-tilt-zoom' (PTZ) camera to follow and record specific events in more detail. Each incident is recorded by the fixed cameras, giving a full view of the incident in context, while the PTZ camera records close up evidence. The system learns and remembers it’s environment, enabling it to ignore irrelevant activity such as animals or trees.
